While it may not snow in the low-country very often, the holiday spirit stays strong here as attested to by some of the wonderful holiday events that take place every year. Here are some of our favorite activities you can enjoy when visiting during the holiday season!

Nights of a Thousand Candles

Brookgreen Gardens’ Nights of a Thousand Candles has come around again this year to the Grand Strand. A wonderful annual light show, the park is lit up with over 2,300 hand-lit candles as well as impressive light displays. Enjoy the beauty of the gardens and these wonderful lights with accompaniments of live music, warm drinks such as cocoa and cider, enjoy some delicious catered food, and even join in on some holiday carols! This year you will also be able to enjoy the Field of Light by Bruce Munro among the grounds. The Carolina Opry

Opening for its 35th season, The Carolina Opry Christmas Special is back again to stun crowds with their wonderful holiday themed show. This is a much-loved annual local event, and each year the shows keep getting better and better and is the perfect family attraction and show to visit this holiday season. Not only is the show full of holiday wonder and talent, but the decorations of the theatre have become an attraction in and of themselves over the years. The Carolina Opry show runs from early November to early January, so make sure you to get your tickets so that you don’t miss this wonderful show, and check out all the new cast members and special guests participating in the show this year.

Thompson Farm Drive-In Movie

A great activity to take part in are the Drive-In movies that take place at Thompson Farm in Conway! During this time of year, Thompson Farm schedules great movies perfect for the holiday season such as Elf, The Polar Express, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and more! You’ll also be able to enjoy the wonderful Christmas on the Farm decorations which are also available to enjoy during the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from November 27th to December 13th and each day from December 18th to December 27th (Closed on Christmas). This is a great location for the whole family to enjoy during the holiday season.

Ripley’s Festival of Trees

Each year, Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach decks out the aquarium with wonderful holiday decorations. There are tons of Christmas trees, including one for each U.S. State, and lights strung up all across the building with their beautiful aquatic galleries providing the background. The lights and decorations combined with the wonderful underwater atmosphere make for a beautiful time for enjoy the holiday spirit.
